Three members of our AAQI Liberated Challenge group have had quilts selected to be part of the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative's 2011 Traveling Exhibit:Alzheimer's Illustrated: From Heartbreak to Hope
The traveling exhibit will includes 182 larger quilts measuring six inches wide by seven feet tall. These larger quilts will feature 10,000 names of people who have had Alzheimer's Disease in tribute to the 5.3 million Americans with this devastating disease.
Displayed among them will be the 53 smaller AAQI Priority Quilts, each measuring 9" x 12" in a vertical format. Among these are our three Liberated Challenge: Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts". These three quilts are "Hanging On-The Last Leaf" by Jean-Sophie Wood,"The Puzzle Known as Alzheimer's" by Julie Sefton, and "Mama's Brain Got Tangles...But Mama's Still Inside" by Michele Bilyeu.
Selected from a field of over 125 quilts, these three quilters were among the 41 quilters and their 53 quilts selected to begin traveling in January 2011. Their quilts and the others selected will be displayed in venues across the United States.
