Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative: Quilts for Sale

Our Liberated Quilting Blog & Liberated Quilters Message Board has done some amazing teamwork in our wonderful Liberated Quilting Challenge . We have now officially contributed 80 quilts to the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. (And even more are currently on the Quilts Awaiting Assignment page!)

Our group challenge was officially issued on January 1, 2010, when Clare Worthy (the moderator for both the Liberated Quilting blog and the Liberated Quilters Yahoo website) asked me to act as a co-moderator for both sites, in order to put my idea of an AAQI Liberated Quilting Challenge into action.

Thanks to Clare's support, and the wonderful, wonderful donations of our quilters, we have created quilts of all styles, and all techniques of quilted art work. Liberated quilting for this cause is more about liberating your self from the confines of your own comfort zone.....and creating anything that speaks to your heart, and the hearts of others.

Challenging yourself to try new quilting, sewing, or art quilting techniques only makes it even more fun!

Paula Bell Dennee

Our talented Liberated Challenge member, Paula Denee has had this striking quilt up at auction this month at the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative's December Auction. Paula shares the spotlight with some amazingly talented quilters, all of whom are supporting this cause by creating and donating small 4"x 6" postcards or 9" x 12" quilts. Please check-out Paula's quilt and the quilt auction quilters and consider placing a bid, today until 10:00 pm.

You can also purchase any of our other quilts from the AAQI For Sale page, any time.... until they are all gone. They are such a wonderful way to create your own art quilt wall (and donate to a great cause) all at the same time.

The Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative raised $54,437.75 at International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX in November. This includes all the monies combined from the quilt sales, earring sales, and donations. It was the most profitable fundraiser in the nonprofit’s history!

Of the 1136 Priority: Alzheimer’s Quilts shown in Houston, 899 quilts were sold. These quilts, donated by AAQI supporters from around the nation ranged in price from $15 to $250.

Please buy one from our own group members and give it as a Christmas, birthday....or just because 'I love you' gift. It's wonderful to be able to buy one on sale at such great prices and still make a donation to this cause.

Check out their sizes...many of those shown above, are quilted postcards that can be legally sent through the mail...just stick on some labels to post a message (and many are already created to be mailable art as is)....put on a stamp and they're good to go!

What a wonderful way to let someone know that you are thinking of them, as well as of others, at the same time.

It's a win-win, either way!

This show with Ami and AAQI is totally awesome. I could barely watch it because my own eyes were so filled with tears. But Ami did the most amazing job and Ricky and Alex were so engaged with the whole project and so supportive...I loved every minute of it. Our Paula, the Quilter is in this audience and at one point is interviewed by Justin about her making of 'The Dark Ride'...shown at the top.

Please help us make this the most watched episode ever by watching it today

You simply fill out the registration form.....and watched the one hour video. Even as a 'for free' viewer, there is still a lot on their site that becomes available to you. You can also choose to subscribe to the show and present a 20% off coupon here:https://www.thequiltshow.com/os/create_account_2.php/alias/712/coupon_number/125030263501

Ami gives wonderful Priority Quilt making tips and a demo and Alex and Ricky both help out, as well. It's such fun!!!
