AAQI Liberated Quilting Challenge

Welcome to the world of Liberated Quilting and a Liberated Quilting Group Challenge. My name is Michele Bilyeu and I have joined forces with Clare, to offer liberated quilters everywhere a chance to join in a fabulous new quilting opportunity!

I am a contributing member of two Liberating Quilting rings...the blogging world of Liberated Quilting and the Liberated Quilters Message Board. I am excited to unite both groups (and anyone else who wants to join) in this new Liberated Challenge for this brand New Year!

As members of a new "Liberated Quilters: Liberated Challenge" group for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative, we are seeking creative input (ie. tiny, little donated 'art' quilts) from liberated quilters everywhere...those who would love to participate here (and are on our waiting list) and those of you who have already accepted membership....in either of the two current groups, or any one who is willing and able to just join in with this challenge!

The challenge begins today, New Years Day 2010 and is completely open to ANYONE who quilts! There is no set ending date for this challenge!

The only rules of this Liberated Challenge are those already set in motion by Ami Simms, the director of the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. They are quite simple...each quilt must be able to fit into a "Priority Mail" envelope (available completely for free from your local post office) and they can be no larger than 9" x 12".....however, they can be smaller, and they can also be a standard 4" x 6" fabric postcard!

To enter this fabulous Liberated Challenge...we need to add you (even if you think you can make one little postcard!) to maintain some kind of organizational framework and we are using that of the Yahoo group to record your name and email address. Simply go to to Liberated Quilters Message Board, add your name to the list through Clare, and receive a membership listing.

All quilts must conform to the standards and sizing regulations of the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative, and must go through a registration process at both the Liberated Quilters membership, and its database, at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Libquilters/ for processing, counting, and AAQI quilt numbering, as well as that of AAQI and their database registration requirements.

And all quilters who enter this challenge are asked to place a copy of the AAQI logo on their blogs and web pages, but they MUST link it back to www.AlzQuilts.org and NOT to any other site, not even to our challenge. The code is located at http://www.alzquilts.org/logolink.html.

All quilts and quilted postcards will be showcased on our group page at the AAQI website:
Liberated Quilters Blog & Liberated Quilters Message Board located under the heading
Guild, Group, and Shop Challenges, as well as on our database on the Yahoo Message Boards, our individual blogs, and links to you, here. It's a wonderful win-win networking and charitable quilt donation combination!

I will be contacting many of you directly to encourage participation and you are welcome to contact me, Michele, at quiltingjourney@gmail.com with any questions.

We are going to have so much fun!

A priority mailing envelope (free at post office display counter) costs $4.99 in
final postage and is a sturdy, safe way to mail. Up to 6 postcards and 3 quilts will fit in
one.You can also save on postage by using a regular manila envelope, but be sure to
place a piece of protective cardboard inside. It's fine to put your postcard
(AAQI still calls them quilts) in a ziplock bag first, for extra protection in
either style of mailing envelope.

EVERYONE DOES FOR AAQI REGISTRATION:

You use this number and your name and address, and the quilts name to
